Corpo Santo Beach is located near the area of Corpo Santo, municipality of Vila Franca do Campo. This beach, with a length of about 178 meters, stands out for its fine sand. It is easily accessible and is situated practically in front of the islet of Vila Franca, which gives it a particular charm.
It is endowed with infrastructures such as parking and changing rooms, is considered safe and guarded. According to local legend, many years ago, on this beach, there were some fishermen on their chores when they spotted a large crate. As they approached, they noticed something written, and then looked for someone who could read it.
It turned out that the box read: "For the Mercy of Vila Franca." So they gave the box to the clergy. It took place at the opening of it, and there is a beautiful statue of the Lord Jesus, sitting on a stone, with fine and expressive expression. It was strange that no one had ordered such a statue. News of the finding, considered miraculous, spread to the islands of the archipelago, reaching the mainland. The image of the Senhor da Pedra was placed in a chapel of the Misericórdia Church.
