Amora Beach

Amora Beach is a beach located in Ponta Garça in the municipality of Vila Franca do Campo. This beach consisting of two areas of sand separated by a small rocky promontory is unique of its kind on the island of São Miguel and possibly in the world for being a case of extreme charm. The access to the beach is very difficult because it is made by a dirt path and very narrow.
The beach is housed at the bottom of a high cliff that forces the passerby to walk all the way and as you do it goes along the rocky strata formed by the different eruptions that formed this part of the island. Along this route, there is always the continuous presence of an abundant flora typical of the laurissilva forests characteristic of Macaronésia. At the bottom of the cliff, already near the sand is excavated by the hand of man in the cliffs small shelters for the rest of the fishermen and to keep the fishing implements and even the boats.
