Lombo Gordo Beach is located in the county of Nordeste. It is strongly influenced by the sea currents related to sand settlement phenomena, which means that with a period of 7 years it has very long sand so that in the next 7 years it is reduced to almost half of its length.
This beach is part of the Ponta do Arnel and Faial da Terra IBA which is an important nature conservation zone located in Ponta do Arnel, Northeast county and is formed by two distinct zones, namely: The Faial da Terra, an area that extends along the coastline from Ribeira do Faial da Terra to this beach; and the Ponta do Arnel area, which goes from Ribeira do Ponta do Arnel to Ribeira do Guilherme.
