The so-called Castelo Branco is located in the parish of Ponta Garça, in the municipality of Vila Franca do Campo. It was erected indefinitely by private individuals. In a dominant position on top of an elevation, it would have the function of control of the adjacent lands by its former masters.
It is currently used as a viewpoint, from which visitors can unveil a wide landscape with an emphasis on the Furnas valley and lagoon das Furnas on one side and Vila Franca do Campo on the other.
