It is a maritime beach located in the municipality of Ribeira Grande, parish of Matriz, with a vast sandy beach that offers moments of relaxation, serenity, and adventure for lovers of sea sports. Well known for the waves it provides, ideal for surfing and bodyboarding.
Monte Verde beach is one of the most potential beaches, much sought after by bathers and stage of one of the biggest music festivals - the Monte Verde Festival - which gathers about twenty thousand festivals annually.
It is equipped with a car park and has already received, in 2009, a WQS stage in surfing. It is also sought by windsurfers and kitesurfers because, because it faces north, it has excellent conditions for the practice of various sea sports. During the bathing season - between June and September of each year - its conditions are reinforced by the installation of two beach modules with toilet, changing rooms and shower.
