The Nossa Senhora da Conceição Viewpoint is located in Ponta da Espalamaca, Conceição parish, city and municipality of Horta, Faial Island, Autonomous Region of the Azores, in Portugal.
Neighbouring the Monument of Our Lady of Conception, from its site you can see on one side the historic center of the city and the bay of Horta and, on the other, the Almoxarife Beach, also seeing the neighbouring Pico Island and the point. highest in Portugal, the Pico mountain. On clear days you can still see the islands of São Jorge and Graciosa.
The Monument of Our Lady of Conception consists of an image of Our Lady of Conception carved in white marble, about 3 meters high, weighing about 4 tons, next to a cross with 28.65 meters high. The monument, inaugurated on May 13, 1962, was then only 18 meters high, making noise during a violent storm from 6 to 7 November 1969. The construction of the present cross was completed on September 27, 1972.
