The Boqueirão Whaling Factory Museum in Santa Cruz das Flores is a branch of Flores Museum dedicated to the island's whaling history. Located beside Boqueirão harbour, it occupies a former industrial complex built between 1941 and 1944.
The exhibition explores whaling and the work carried out at the factory, which produced oil and whale meal for export. Preserved machinery and industrial spaces reveal the different stages of processing and the industry's connection with the island community.
Opened in 2015, the museum offers an insight into Flores' maritime and industrial heritage, in a building distinguished by its chimney and coastal setting.
